Fishing Trips and Charters

Wednesday, 17 March Each of these techniques can produce fish and we come prepared to utilize them all. For example, if there are four rods fishing then you should start with a squid, a herring, a piece of shad, and a lead-headed jig with a rubber grub tipped with squid. Once you hook a fish or two on a particular bait say, shad, then switch baits and run three shads and one lead-headed jig. Terminal Tackle Bait can be fished in multiple fashions. Our personal favorite is an over-sized spreader-bar that separates the bait from the mainline and allows the weight to hang below the bait without tangling. One major drawback here is if you hang-up then you risk losing an expensive terminal tackle setup. Another option is to tie into a strong lb piece of mono a drop-loop knot that acts the same as a spreader and allows the bait to be presented away from the weight and mainline without tangling. Additionally, and maybe most importantly, the spreader system keeps the bait in the strike zone above the bottom while the weight is dragged through the mud. Large Herring, black or purple label, are by far the most popular bait on the Coast.

The techniques and skills fishermen use to catch these predators are very unique. On Walleye Encounters, we will be trolling using planer boards and dipsy divers.

These two techniques are the most commonly used ways to hook up with trophy walleye. However, the precision and presentation of lures is what triggers their bite. Captain Tony and First Mate Jake have spent years honing these techniques, creating their own spin on lures, and developing a routine that provides you with the best opportunity to catch a Fish Ohio walleye.

Also, on occasion our customers are given the chance to land a heart pounding, acrobatic, line tangling Steelhead. These fish give a great fight and put on a show while trying to spit the hook.

We start fishing the Lake in early June and continue on into the middle of September. Starting in June, the boat traffic is much less than later in the season.

This is one reason why trophy brown trout fishing can be so successful.
